Filmed by Bike is a festival of bike-themed movies from around the world. This year we are celebrating our 10th anniversaryof showcasing stellar movies.The festival is April 13-18 at the Clinton Street Theater.* Friday night’s New Belgium Street Party features a beer garden in the middle of Clinton Street, live entertainment and much more.* If you want to get into the Friday movies, we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance online as most shows will sell out when the box office opens at 6pm.

To create events that appeal to cyclists of all levels. Our Tours attract both serious athletes and recreational cyclists, who are motivated to push themselves beyond their perceived limits and, in the process, discover their innate abilities.

To create a trans-Africa “back to basics” cycling stage race unparalleled in length. This unique competition requires a new approach to racing. Times are taken and race statistics are tallied with care. To complete this race of more than 90 stages it is necessary to re-learn the term pacing yourself. Maintenance of not only body and equipment, but also of mind becomes extremely important.

To cross continents and sub-continents under human power. We aim to raise consciousness about bicycles as an alternative means of transport; being more beneficial to the sustainability of the planet and more rewarding for the rider who, somehow, through the mud and the saddle sores and sunburn, gets a heightened awareness of body, and the environment.

To do some good while we are having fun. We do this through the donation of bicycles to Health Care Professionals in Africa and also by supporting bicycle advocacy and by promoting projects that protect the environment. Most of this work is done through the Tour d’Afrique Foundation. We want to expose and share the beauty of these places, the simplicity and hospitality of the people, their rich culture, and their determination.

Being an avid cyclist, I enjoyed doing as many long distant rides as I could on my road bike during the riding season. I noticed that the longer the number of hours I was on the bike the sorer my back would become. I found relief when I sat up straight, which was difficult without letting go of the handle bars.I searched for a handle bar attachment that would allow me to shift positions from a low racing position to an upright position when needed. None existed. So I experimented with a number of prototypes and developed a set of handlebars that not only helped relieve my back, but also I found that the position helped me on hill climbs and when I needed to torque the bike for fast acceleration using the hamstring muscles.

After further refinement and extensive safety testing by an independent laboratory, Back-Up Barz was born. Back-Up Barz meets Federal CPSC safety compliance. The design allows the rider to easily move from the lower racing position to a fully upright position. The design does not get in the way when moving up or down and allows the rider to have full control of turning and stability. Deller Designs began in 2004 when artist/designer/cyclist, Shaun Deller, began making a few custom bike caps for himself and friends. His idea was, and still is, to make a small line of hats with function, fashion, simplicity and sustainability in mind. The hats were originally designed after standard cycling cap patterns but these evolved over years of much wearing and riding, to become a refined line of caps suited to cycling in comfort in all seasons.
All of the caps are designed and sewn in Shaun’s little trailer studio in Deer Island, Oregon. All fabrics are salvaged from local thrift stores and washed using bio-degradable detergents.

This year we will have a unique selection of cycling caps made from upcycled wool and cotton garments in various sizes, colors and styles. This includes caps for all seasons.

Tour de Cure is the cycling event of the American Diabetes Association. Tour de Cure will take place in 85 cities this year and raise over $22 million for diabetes research, advocacy and education. Locally, this is the largest fund raising event for the American Diabetes Association Oregon/SW Washington. In 2011, we had 1,184 riders and raised $351,000.00.
