Being an avid cyclist, I enjoyed doing as many long distant rides as I could on my road bike during the riding season. I noticed that the longer the number of hours I was on the bike the sorer my back would become. I found relief when I sat up straight, which was difficult without letting go of the handle bars.I searched for a handle bar attachment that would allow me to shift positions from a low racing position to an upright position when needed. None existed. So I experimented with a number of prototypes and developed a set of handlebars that not only helped relieve my back, but also I found that the position helped me on hill climbs and when I needed to torque the bike for fast acceleration using the hamstring muscles.
After further refinement and extensive safety testing by an independent laboratory, Back-Up Barz was born. Back-Up Barz meets Federal CPSC safety compliance. The design allows the rider to easily move from the lower racing position to a fully upright position. The design does not get in the way when moving up or down and allows the rider to have full control of turning and stability. I am confident that you will find Back-Up Barz a welcome addition to your bike. In fact, I guarantee you will!
New Products this Year:
TechSpeed Inc., a provider of strain-relieving handlebars for bicycles, recently announced the general availability of its Back-Up Barz system.
The Back-Up Barz system is a patent-pending product that provides cyclists with a unique secondary set of handlebars made out of a high-strength, lightweight metal alloy. The handlebars are designed to accommodate multiple different cycling postures in order to alleviate the strains on target muscle groups and boost overall performance.“We experimented with a number of prototypes and developed a supplementary set of handlebars that not only help to relieve the rider’s back from the strains of the road, but which also provide additional torque for hill ascents and can assist the rider in accelerating quickly using their full weight. We are confident that you will find Back-Up Barz a welcome addition to your bike. In fact, we guarantee you will!” stated Richard Plainfield, President and Founder of Back-Up Barz.
Paul Solon, an international endurance racer and winner of The Race Across America, will be using Back-Up Barz in this upcoming Race Across America this summer of 2012.
The Back-Up Barz system has been validated by an independent laboratory, and meets Federal CPSC standards for safety compliance as well as the stringent European safety requirements of the EN Cycle Standards. The innovative system includes two clamping upright handlebars that improve rider comfort and versatility. Medical research shows that having the ability to change postural position on extended rides relieves stress and tension on the neck, back, shoulders, arms, and hands.
Back-Up Barz is actively seeking distributors for its products in the United States.
